DVTel’s Latitude NVMS and cameras showcased in conjunction with Baltimore’s Secured Cities event

Posted on: Thursday, November 17th, 2011

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DVTel & partners showcase capabilities through Baltimore’s CitiWatch Program at Secured Cities conference in Baltimore

Baltimore, MD — Municipalities across the United States convened in Baltimore to share the challenges, solutions and best practices in creating a safe and secure environment for their citizens and assets. Baltimore’s CitiWatch Program was showcased, with a live tour of one of five Baltimore Police Monitoring Centers, which utilize DVTel’s Network Video Management System (NVMS) to provide round-the-clock proactive monitoring from dedicated surveillance rooms.

What started in 2005 with 50 cameras has grown to 542 cameras deployed throughout the city’s downtown center and many neighborhoods, integrated into DVTel’s Latitude Network Video Management System platform.

“This conference and DVTel’s value proposition to the municipalities market is about preventing crime and saving lives,” said Paul Smith, VP Sales for the Americas. There are many organizations here today who are at the same place Baltimore was in 2005, with a few cameras and a non-integrated system, but with the drive to build a plan that works.”

DVTel and partners Tele-Tector, KLM and KBC Networks had the opportunity to meet with many organizations still in the infancy stages of planning or building a video surveillance infrastructure. Baltimore Mayor, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake shared the criticality of the city’s commitment to investment in video surveillance initiatives at a time when municipalities are challenged with reduced budgets, noting this is not the place to cut corners. Her drumbeat was: Start small. Get it right. Review lessons learned. Grow.

“The attendees at this conference are at various stages of the video surveillance spectrum – from having 12 cameras with no true video management system to the City of Baltimore, which is a true model for cities nation-wide and globally. In fact, the Baltimore Police have instilled an open door policy in sharing their experiences and have had visits from organizations from all over the world,” said Kristian Gragg, KLM Marketing.

Great Ormond Street Hospital Relies on DVTel to Protect Patients

Posted on: Sunday, May 22nd, 2011

DVTel chosen over multiple VMS providers for world-renowned children’s hospital

Birmingham, UK and Ridgefield Park, NJ, May 23, 2011 — DVTel, Inc., a multiple award-winning market leader in Smart Security Solutions for video surveillance, today announced that the Great Ormond Street Hospital, London, UK, has selected DVTel from among eight video management software providers as the central platform for a newly-upgraded IP video management system.

The DVTel solution will manage data from more than 160 IP, High Definition (HD) and analogue cameras, covering the entire hospital complex and monitored from a Central Command video wall, along with dedicated workstations throughout the hospital (where required), and possibly in the future from portable devices such as an iPad. Check Your Security Ltd. performed a CCTV audit at the hospital prior to the project going to tender and was then eventually selected as the integrator for this on-going, high profile project.

Since its founding in 1852, Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) has been dedicated to children’s healthcare. Each year, there are over 170,000 patient visits to the hospital. GOSH is at the forefront of pediatric care and nurse and doctor training in the UK. For such a venerable, visible institution, the choice and installation of an advanced, highly effective security system to protect patients and staff was extremely important.

The hospital approached Check Your Security (CYS) in 2010 seeking to significantly upgrade their disparate analogue video surveillance systems. As a starting point, CYS recommended their Enterprise Audit service. The Audit evaluated every piece of security and network equipment to provide a comprehensive picture of exactly what was in place, technology capabilities, legacy equipment to be utilized in a future solution, and a list of hardware and software options to meet their current security goals.

DVTel’s ioimage Intelligent Video Analytics Deployed at Elayn Hunt Correctional Center as Part of Perimeter Security Protection

Posted on: Wednesday, May 11th, 2011

Ridgefield Park, NJ, May 10, 2011 — DVTel, Inc., multiple award-winning market leader in Smart Security Solutions for video surveillance, today announced that the Elayn Hunt Correctional Center in St. Gabriel, Louisiana, has installed DVTel’s ioimage intelligent video analytic cameras to assist in providing improved perimeter protection for its skilled nursing facility and a nearby cell block area where prison inmates are locked down in their cells the majority of the day.

The Elayn Hunt facility uses ioimage cameras with onboard video analytics to establish a virtual fence within the perimeter 24×7. Upon a registered activation, the smart cameras stream video of a potential intruder in the restricted area across the network. With smart cameras maintaining a watch of the perimeter and generating alerts upon detection of suspicious behavior, the facility sees the potential to reduce the need for manned guard towers. In addition, the video from an alert highlights and identifies the subject, providing timely information for command center operators needing to quickly assess threat levels.

By deploying DVTel ioimage technology, Elayn Hunt officers in this area of the facility respond only to analytics-generated alerts, reducing their reliance on full time observation of live cameras and potentially reducing wasted time viewing lengthy video streams trying to identify breaches in the restricted zones. A patrol vehicle provides live monitoring of these zones as well.

“Smart Cameras with video analytics are more reliable than a person sitting in a tower for 12 hours, and the technology will alert and buzz staff when someone is breaching the fence,” explained John Whiteman, Vice President of Strategic Programs for DVTel.

City of Aurora Relies on DVTel to Protect Courts and Jail

Posted on: Monday, May 2nd, 2011

Video Management System effective in reducing number of incidents, improving safety

Ridgefield Park, NJ, May 03, 2011 — DVTel, Inc., a multiple award-winning market leader in Smart Security Solutions for video surveillance, today announced that the city of Aurora (Colorado) Municipal Justice Center successfully deployed the DVTel Latitude Network Video Management System (NVMS) solution, significantly improving the safety and security of the city’s court and jail complex.

Aurora is the third most populous city in the state of Colorado and the 59th most populous city in the United States. DVTel’s intelligent Security Operations Center (iSOC) was selected to replace the outdated, failure-prone Digital Video Recorders based on recommendations Aurora City staff received from other DVTel end users about its extensive features, reliability, and ease of use.

From the initial roll-out of the IP video surveillance system over two years ago, the Municipal Justice Center’s security system has grown to a total of 286 cameras providing surveillance in the court buildings and the 220-inmate capacity jail. In addition to criminal prosecutions, the court building also offers services ranging from marriages to teen court to probation hearings.

Cameras are located throughout both buildings. Focus is given especially to the court’s main entrance where metal detectors and x-ray scanners are employed. Surveillance is also emphasized in locations where cash transactions occur; each courtroom has at least one camera; and the entrance to the women’s shelter is carefully monitored. On any given day, the DVTel system is watching over the safety of more than 1,500 city employees and assorted members of the public.

“We have focused on monitoring live video,” reported Bryan Verhoeff, the Court IT staff member in charge of the DVTel video management system. “We proactively observe key areas of activity so as to minimize the need for after-event investigation. We have a monitor displaying several camera views as people come through the metal detector at the entrance. This serves as a great deterrent and has reduced the number of incidents at the entrance to zilch. In the past we have had to deal with false accusations of theft and some very unruly behavior at the entrances. Now that the public is aware that they are on camera, we have had no problems in this area and a great deal fewer incidents everywhere else.”

DVTel Warns Against Counterfeit ioimage Products

Posted on: Tuesday, February 15th, 2011

Ridgefield Park, NJ, February 15, 2011 — DVTel, Inc., a multiple award-winning market leader in Smart Security Solutions, announced today they are warning against counterfeit ioimage products being sold and distributed.

Since DVTel’s acquisition of ioimage in March 2010, it has been discovered that counterfeit ioimage products, including software and intelligent video analytics edge devices, are being manufactured and sold both as ioimage clones and as original ioimage products. This manufacture and sale of counterfeit ioimage products is entirely without the approval or authorization of DVTel.

The distribution, sale, re-sale, purchase or use of counterfeit products is illegal worldwide, and may subject all persons and entities involved to civil and/or criminal penalties. To the extent that any DVTel authorized distributor or value added reseller is involved in such illegal activity, it is risking legal action against it, including the imposition of severe civil and/or criminal penalties.

The counterfeit products are inferior to genuine, authorized ioimage products. Further, genuine ioimage product sales provide vital feedback into R&D for future product development, which benefits DVTel and its customers.

All persons involved in the distribution, sale, re-sale, purchase or use of counterfeit ioimage products should be aware that DVTel will use all legal means at its disposal to enforce its intellectual property rights in ioimage products, including ioimage software, and will pursue those involved in counterfeiting wherever they may be found.

Accordingly, we strongly recommend verification that the products being distributed and resold are original, authorized products fully supported by ioimage, so that purchasing, distributing, selling, re-selling or using any counterfeit products is avoided.

Please let us know if you become aware of anyone distributing, selling, or re-selling counterfeit ioimage products, including software, said Eli Gorovici, DVTel President and CEO. ―DVTel and our partners are harmed by these counterfeit products, and we all must do our best to stop their unauthorized and illegal sale and distribution.
